Rs 986 crore sanctioned for mid-day meals

HYDERABAD: The state government on Monday accorded administrative sanction for release of Rs 986.60 crore for the mid-day meal programme for 2011-12. In May the central government released Rs 138.77 crore lakh (75 per cent of central share) on ad hoc basis for recurring of Central Assistance for Primary and Upper Primary classes under National Programme of Mid-day Meal during year 2011-12. As per the pattern of financial assistance, the state government has to contribute 25 per cent share from its funds towards cooking cost and payment of honorarium to cook-cum-helpers.
